IUPAC Global Women's Breakfast 2020

GWB%202020

On February 12th, we hosted a breakfast event as part of the IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast. Students, faculty, and staff in the Chemistry department came together for this tri-campus event. At the St. George campus, we got up early and prepared pancakes in anticipation of strong participation in the festivities, and the department community did not disappoint—we had quite the line of hungry mouths to feed! Students also prepared pancakes at the Mississauga campus, while the Scarborough campus ordered in a delicious array of baked goods. And, of course, none of these breakfasts would have been complete without a cup of tea or coffee.

This year’s theme was, “Building bonds to create future leaders.” To get the conversation going, we asked our community to consider the questions, “What makes a leader great?” and, “How can we make labs more inclusive?” We wrote these questions on poster boards and encouraged the event participants to write their answers on them while they enjoyed their breakfasts.

This event was generously funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry with help from the Chemistry Department Chair’s office.
